Projecting With OO

March 9th, 2010 Techno Wizkid No comments

Built from semi monocoque carbon fiber, the durable OO wireless projector is a part of the GEO series from designer David Riesenberg. As he explains, the projector displays high definition (1080p) data via WiFi or internal SSD storage and works independently from any wire for up to 3 hours. It does rely on its internal Li-Ion battery for some support but hooks up to any power source (via a single wire), should the need arise. Thanks to the combo of WiFi and internal storage, OO doubles up as an extender/duplicator of an external display or as a wireless media projector/streamer with built in decoding capabilities.

Manipulating the stance of the projector is easy, thanks to its three independently articulated legs. And to work it like magic, a fully touchscreen remote come in handy, however it can work without the remote in extender/duplicator mode after pre configuration.

Eclipse Touchmouse

eclipse touch mouse 500x280 Eclipse Touchmouse
The Eclipse Touchmouse is one of the more unique looking and functioning mouses we’ve come across. Besides it’s stylish brushed aluminum L-shaped form factor, it also has some interesting tricks. What looks like a button in the middle is actually a “unique touchscroll module” that is used to help you navigate the web. Just press and hold the touchscroll module, then move the mouse in one of the four directions to activate the shortcuts.

Without actually trying this mouse out, it’s hard for me to say if the touchscroll module would really speed up your web browsing, although it does seem like it would. This bluetooth mouse runs $59 from Eclipse directly.

The Headphones that Captured All

February 25th, 2010 Techno Wizkid No comments

Hey so I know you want to capture everything that you experience. Wait you don’t? Then don’t read this. You’ll get all mad probably. This is a concept design about a set of wireless headphones that also have a 10.1 megapixel digi-cam on one side and a digital image projector on the side. You can capture your world all the time and put that stuff on the internet right away. Instantly.

Here’s basically the manifesto of this project: Support the act of exploration by giving people better tools. Deepen image’s meaning by supoprting as much information as possible. Bring people together by enabling individuals to express themselves.

There’s all kinds of wireless going on with this project. It’s got P2P, automatic backup into your computer, and instant wireless uploading to the internets. And! And! With the projector, you can project as you record. How useless is that? Not at all. I need people to know what they look like.

*Don’t forget to look at that really, just, good looking, guy at the bottom of this post.

**Lookin good, guy.

Only Photogenic Pictures Please

February 18th, 2010 Techno Wizkid No comments

At times it’s the photographer’s fault that your picture came out weird and at times you’re plain ugly! Ha! So scrutinize and be in control over which picture of yours is groovy… So, Are you camera-shy? Not with this funky digital camera that has two separate sections, one is the Lens part and the other the screen. Both stick together via magnets, but when someone wants to click pictures, the screen part detaches and is kept with the subject and the clicked shot comes over to the screen via wireless USB. This means crappy pictures can be dumped and only cool ones approved. The photographer doesn’t see what exactly he has clicked, so he’s pretty much clueless about the his photography skills.

Palm Pre and Pixi Come to Verizon in Plus-Sized Versions

February 2nd, 2010 Techno Wizkid No comments

After their debut launches on the other CDMA network in the U.S., Palm’s webOS-powered smartphones–the Pre (at right) and the Pixi (left)–have now launched on Verizon Wireless as the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus (and Amazon Wireless has them both). And like the original Sprint models, they feature fast 3G connectivity, the Palm Synergy all-in-one view of contacts and messaging, and GPS turn-by-turn navigation (now powered by Verizon’s VZ Navigator Service). Additionally, both models have had their internal storage capacities super-sized to 16 GB (hence the Plus monicker), but that’s not the most intriguing bonus feature.

Both the Pre Plus and the Pixi Plus can be turned into a Wi-Fi hotspot that can serve Verizon’s 3G cellular broadband connectivity to up to six different devices–from laptop to iPod touch to cameras loaded with Wi-Fi-enabled Eye-Fi SD cards. There are other solutions that provide link together cellular broadband connectivity with Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities–such as the 3G Novatel MiFi (available in Verizon and Sprint flavors) and the 3G/4G hybrid Sprint Overdrive, but this is one of the first instances of a mobile phone offering this feature.

And according to David Pogue, it sounds easy peasy:

You download a free app. You open it, name your hot spot, make up a password if you want one, and tap On.

Now nearby neighbors suddenly see the hot spot, and (if they provide the password) can surf it at 3G speeds, just fast enough to watch videos without skipping. Each time someone connects, a note on the Palm’s screen to let you know — a nice touch.

MobileCrunch also offers a more in-depth look at the feature, and they also come away impressed with its speed and ease of use. The 3G hotspot feature is an additional service that’s priced at $40 a month for up to 5 GB of use (with an overage charge of 5 cents per megabyte).
