Vm2Mage

March 10th, 2010 php No comments

This extension allows you to migrate your shopdata from VirtueMart to Magento. The migration using Vm2Mage is simple and efficient, but because of various parameters and selection-methods you have full control over which data are migrated to Magento. Vm2Mage is the ideal way to switch over from VirtueMart to Magento.

Vm2Mage uses a component within Joomla! 1.5 and an extra module within Magento, which communicate with eachother through XML-RPC. For the setup and other tasks, the tutorials on Yireo.com help you out.

The software is free, but does not come with official support. In our Yireo Shop you can purchase an extra support package or an installation service as well.

Vm2Mage is created by the same people who invented MageBridge, which offers a visual bridge between Joomla! and Magento. You do not need MageBridge to use Vm2Mage.

The Real Guitar Video Game

March 6th, 2010 Techno Wizkid No comments

The REAL, I said. The REAL one. This is the one where you learn a real, actual, applicable beyond the game skill. Habeeb it! The designer of this project had the idea stop upon his mind-grapes while he was watching friends jam upon Guitar Hero and Rock Band all day long. He thought hey, they’re so good at this, but they can’t play a real guitar at all! Well wouldn’t you know it, he was (and is!) an industrial designer so he pumped up his muscles and got to work creating what he calls “Vision.”

Vision is a self-teaching electric guitar. It’s an LED-lit neck and body working in unison with guitar learning software. Tune is always tune, reducing the time a student uses on this elementary task. Vision teaches through games involving visual and audio feedback. Chords, percussion, and popular music are played alongside the student to provide easy assistance, allowing the student to become familiar with the instrument in an environment they’re basically already used to.

Connect to a computer with Bluetooth, plug in an amp, or go unplugged with battery. Gameplay is very similar to popular guitar games out now where students complete levels, difficulties, and unlock challenges.

Connecting to an amp allows the student to play uninhibited. The guitar has regular tone and volume knobs as well as a built-in effects system.

Unplugged works on rechargeable batteries, LED lit fretboard and rear-mounted speaker allow the student to practice or play portably.

The guitar comes standard with several interchangeable bodies to appease any weirdly shaped person.

Nikon’s PMA press release – nothing new

February 22nd, 2010 Techno Wizkid No comments

Update #2: also don’t hold your breath for the Nikon press event in Japan next Tuesday – it will probably be similar to this one.

Update #1: I think Zoltar misunderstood this press release. In this announcement Nikon is talking about two DSLRs – the D3000 and D3s, but those are not new. I also got the time right (almost – I was expecting it @ 12 instead of 11 am, I still think the actual press event @ PMA will be at noon today).

I knew that there will be a press release about two DSLR cameras today from Nikon, but I did not expect them to have a press release about products that were already released! This is the story.

This just got published on Nikon USA press center – I guess there will be no new products. Sorry, I screwed up this time!
