Air Cones For Road Safety

March 13th, 2010 Techno Wizkid No comments

Road Cones can be a pain sometimes, for the driver a safety hazard and for the guy who has to place them on the road, a back breaking job. Not many must have thought of redesigning this thang, but innovation is really called for. Interim let’s look at the Air Cone Concept; it’s this flattened balloon strip that you lay on the road. Inflating it causes Air Cones to pop up, but care has been taken to ensure a sturdy design. Only hope that crazy kids with pins in hand don’t got popping it just for fun.

All I Ever Want Is The Smartbook To Be Real

March 12th, 2010 Techno Wizkid No comments

And then I’m ready to go to Geek Heaven! One of the reasons why devices like iPad and other tablets exist is to satisfy this urge in us to stay connected to the web world. Latest touchscreen phone also carry the same incentive, but somehow both the devices have one flaw: tablets lack an external keyboard and phones lack the screen real estate. To bridge the gap we have the really innovative Smartbook; a Smartphone that flips open to become a QWRTY keyboard and syncs with its personalized PC Tablet.

One Ring to Green Them All

March 12th, 2010 Techno Wizkid No comments

How many of you are swanky enough to have a tree stump on your wall? Well you’re in luck! Because here’s another one! This one’s made to keep tabs on your environment, air pollution style. The basic concept here is lights and filters. As this device sits on your wall, showing you with conveniently lovely lights how dirty your air is, it also does a small degree of filtering that same air to keep your home nice to breath in.

The reason these designers chose to do this project is to remind folks at home of the pollutants that are affecting the forests of the world every day. In the same way those forests are dying, SO WILL YOU* unless you keep your house air clean!

*Probably not, but clean air keeps lungs happy!

They offer this loving message:

Today, the green forest in our global village is daily being reduced to 80 thousand m². The forest is being worsened daily by air pollution due to elements such as SO2, ozone depletion, NOx and acid fog. Accordingly, the following phenomena such as the impeded leaf growth, yellowing damage, and narrowed width of annual tree rings are appearing and have appeared due to this pollution. We propose this Eco-Green Ring to represent and remind us of both the pollution in the air and the trees that are disappearing, as they are both indispensable for our species life.

As far as the air in your room goes, red lights means bad, green lights means good. And as it’s a green machine, a large cross-section of the elements it’s made of are recycled in some way or another. And it’s powered by your favorite kind of power! Human power! It doesn’t eat your skin or anything, what I actually mean is that you actually have to pull on the little branch on the side of it to rev up its power supply. Cute!

To make it easy to find the information you need, read the profiles below and choose the one that most accurately describes your current role. This will take you to an area where the documentation is organised according to the goals that you are most likely to require help with. There is a lot of overlap in the documentation for each of these roles; they are not mutually exclusive; so just choose one that seems to be nearest to your own role even if the fit is not exact. To make these user profiles more concrete and so help writers to target the material more accurately, we are looking at creating [[personas]] for each of the profiles.

These Are Not Animal Balls

March 10th, 2010 Techno Wizkid No comments

They are called “Aniballs.” There is a relatively large difference between these golf ball creatures and the testicles of a cow. You can hit them all with a golf club, but only about 6 out of 8 will result in anything more than a kickback to the face. Aniballs! They come in cow, sheep, donkey, pig, goat, and dog. With four feet, a face, and a flight plan. All you need is a club, gravity, and a place to put the ball.

It’s always refreshing to do a 2 ton overground travel truck one day, paragraphs and paragraphs of description, and golfballs with legs the next. The genius of this is that one isn’t more brilliant than the next. These little guys are simple and super.

I’d love a set, and I’d totally play on-road golf with them!

(NOTE: I do not think the designers intend these for breaking windows, caution!)

Considering a Slice of Cake

March 10th, 2010 Techno Wizkid No comments

Yay let’s have a party! I’d eat cake every day if I could! I remember when I first went to college, I ate icecream every night. Designers at WAGAii are considering how to cut the cake. Really! Each box of Petals consists of a single plastic flower. With it, you can cut a cake perfectly into 3, 4, 6, 12, 5, 7, 8, 9, or 10 pieces. I didn’t get lost in there! There’s two ways to cut! So many options, one single flower of plastic.

Alright check it out.

You can either use the pedals of the flower (the top,) or the leaves of the flower (along the stem.)

If you use the petals (the top,) you can cut the cake into 3, 4, 6, or 12 pieces, as each pedal spans 30 degrees. All you’ve got to do is insert the top of the flower into the cake and keep it in place, cutting then between whichever pedals make sense for you. (See the first image below).

If you use the leaves (on the stem,) you can cut the cake into 5, 7, 8, 9, or 10 pieces. This gets a little more complicated. You must first start with a cut, placing against that cut then the pedal marked with the number of pieces you’d like. At the other end of that pedal, make another cut. Move the pedal to that cut, and continue.

All done!

And when you ARE done, the flower connects and sits in the pot that it comes with for a lovely decoration.

Deep Sea Exploring

March 10th, 2010 Techno Wizkid No comments

Fluke is a diving robot designed for the deep abyss. The data collected serves to deepen our understanding of the ocean as an ecosystem. The research probes are equipped with flexible, pressure-resistant carriers suitable for holding various sensors in order to prepare for the respective missions. Extremely effective and featuring reduced energy consumption, the low-complexity drive system concept is based on the movements of a fish and can be manufactured affordably.
